God’s love toward us; One Flesh
Ephesians 5:25-33
Christ loves his wife, His wife is the body of Christ. He gave himself for the (spiritual) church to
sanctify it and make it clean with the (living) word. Christ loves himself and his own flesh, his wife.
When Christ left His ‘mother’ Mary on earth and ‘Father’ in heaven and became sin who knew no
sin (separation) (2Cor 6:21), He made a premarital covenant with His bride, the body of Christ,
who is presented to as a chaste virgin (2 Cor 11:2), glorious, with no spots, wrinkles or blemishes.
The Holy Spirit baptizes us and makes us pure. We were once in sin from our ‘mother’ the dust of
the earth (Gen 3:19), and when we were sinners, the god of this world was our ‘father’, When we
became born again; we heard the living Word of God and said “I do” accept your word (believe in
my heart) and “I will” confess your word (continuous) and the seed of God (the Word) was
planted in us to be watered by the Holy Spirit. God became our Father and our ‘mother’ is
Jerusalem above (Gal 4:26).
