John 21:15-17 Jesus speaking to Peter;
Jesus: do you love (agape) me?
Peter: you know I love (phileo) you
Jesus: do you love (agape) me?
Peter: you know I love (phileo) you
Jesus: do you love (phileo) me
Peter: Lord you know all things, you know I love (phileo) you.
Jesus knew the Spirit would empower him with this kind of love after his ascension. In
his two epistles, he writes about holiness and agape love.

knowledge, full discernment, acquaintance
2 Pet 1:3 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge (epignosis) of
God, and Jesus our Lord.
Acts 19:15 Jesus I know (gnosis), Paul I know (epistamai), but who are ye?
or Jesus I have knowledge of and Paul I am acquainted with, but who are you?
