Your Inheritance
The prodigal son is a familiar story, but the older son was also given an inheritance at the same time (Luke 15:
12). Some sons who have not been out in the world wasting their talents have been at home with the Father,
complaining over what they don’t have or in reality, living with the Father and not knowing what He has to offer.
We never heard about the elder son going out and attempting to save him that was lost, but the report says; he
would not even speak to him when he came back to the house (Luke 15:28), thinking that works was the
connection to righteousness and rewards (Luke 15:29). He did not understand what was available to him and
had to be reminded (Luke 15:31). He still had some growing up to do (1 Cor 13:11).
In a big way, the body of Christ is like the eldest son. We have the understanding that we will be with our Father
forever, but while we were at work and busy in the field, we haven’t spent enough quality time in the Father’s
arms; listening to who He has called us to be (James 4:8). We haven’t understood His purpose for us in this life
while the devouring wolves are multiplying in the field (Matt 13:25). As a whole, the creative miracles, raising the
dead, signs and wonders that were normal for churches to do in the book of Acts are rare compared to the
number of churches we have (Jude 1:3). The way to our Father’s heart is only through the Word (John 14:6). He
defeated every enemy, took away the keys of Hell and Death and told us to gather the spoils (Col 2:15, Rev 1:
18, Luke 11:23).
How many of us have not understood that our names are written in heaven and we now sit in heavenly places
with him? (Luke 10:19, Eph 2:6). How many of us know, if we want healing, replenishing, restoration, refreshing,
healing and miracles, it’s already in the house? (John 14:19) The Lord has given (past tense) these things (1 Pet 2:
24) so when we speak to a mountain (Mark 11:22) or pray and believe (Mark 11:23) we will receive. Jesus said
these things to the disciples while He was walking the earth. So if miracles were good “on credit” then, how
much more now, that the price has been paid with a “check” written in blood before the foundation of the world
(Rev 13:8, 9), cashed in on Calvary, guaranteed by the Kingdom’s government, and guarded by the King’s army
of angels (Heb 12:22) for His royal priesthood children?
Are you waiting on your crown? You’ve been crowned with glory (Heb 2:7/ Rom 8:30/ Rev 3:11/Prov 3:35).
What about your inheritance? You’ve already obtained it (Eph 1:11/Col 1:12). You didn’t work for it, it pours in
you with faith and patience (Heb 6:12) until we inherit all things (Rev 21:7 1 Cor 3:21, 22). Our Father
rewards us openly in front of servants and enemies (Ps. 23:5/Matt 6:4, 6, 18 Heb 11:6/Deut 6:10, 11). The
command and provision has been given long ago. We need to have confidence in our prayer (1 John 3:21, 5:
14,15/3 John 1:2). If we take the Word at face value and believe in the authority we have been given over the
enemy, we will exercise our faith daily in prayer for intercession and healing (Matt 18:18). If Jesus said He has all
power, we have all power as co-laborers (Matt 28:18 Mark 16:17, 18/1 Cor 3:9).
Now that you’ve discovered the Father’s will; what will you do with the inheritance you have? (Eph 1:18-22)
Be a guide or run and hide? (Luke 19:18-20). Creation is waiting for you (Rom 8:22). Believe and receive.
